產品描述：
甘露醇氯化鈉瓊脂(Mannitol Salt Agar)簡稱MSA培養基，是葡萄球菌選擇與鑒別培養基，用于分離致病 性葡萄球菌，如金黃色葡萄球菌。
MSA培養基工作原理
MSA培養基中氯化鈉的濃度是通常培養基的10倍，高濃度氯化鈉抑制待測樣品中除葡萄球菌外其它微生物 的生長。牛肉提取物和多聚蛋白胨為葡萄球的生長提供氮源、碳源、硫源和生長因子。酚紅是酸堿指示劑，變色范圍為pH6.8~pH8.4。酚紅溶 液在pH<6.8時為黃色，pH中性時為紅色，pH>8.4時則顯紫紅色。甘露醇是金葡菌可發酵的碳源，金葡菌發酵甘露醇產酸，使得菌落周圍培養 基顯黃色。不能發酵甘露醇的葡萄球菌如表皮葡萄球菌，菌落周圍培養基呈紫色或紅色。在該培養基上，非致病性的葡萄球菌生長狀況沒有金 黃色葡萄球菌好，菌落相對較小。
MSA培養基的用途：
MSA培養基(甘露醇氯化鈉瓊脂）被美國公眾健康協會APHA推薦作為食品和奶制品中葡萄球菌增菌培養基。

配制方法：
1. 稱取111g本品，用1000ml去離子水重懸浸泡10min。
2. 不斷攪動，加熱煮沸至全部溶解。
3. 121°C滅菌15min。
4. 待溫度降到55°C左右時，倒入15X100mm無菌培養皿中，每個培養皿中倒入約20ml培養基。
實驗方法
Specimen Collection: Consult listed references for information on specimen collection.Infectious material should be submitted directly to the laboratory without delay and protected from excessive heat and cold. If there is to be a delay in processing, the specimen should be inoculated onto an appropriate transport media and refrigerated until inoculation.
Method of Use: Allow the plates to warm to room temperature and the agar surface to dry before inoculating. Heavily inoculate and streak the specimen as soon as possible after collection. If the specimen to be cultured is on a swab, roll the swab over a small area of the agar surface. Streak for isolation with a sterile loop. Incubate plates aerobically at 35-37ºC for 24-48 hours. Examine colonial morphology.
結果與分析
金黃色葡萄球菌在MSA培養基上菌落呈金黃色，菌落周圍培養基顯黃色。表皮葡萄球菌菌落呈粉色或紅色，菌落周圍培養基呈紅色或紫紅色。 如下圖。
